Eine Lizenz zum Programmieren braucht Mensch nicht!
Dies zeigen die Aktivitäten verschiedenster Jugendlicher zum Festival of Code (siehe #FoC2015 auf Twitter und der Überblick im TechCrunch), welches noch bis Sonntag stattfindet. Zum ersten Festival of Code Bern kamen kleine und grosse Menschen, um den spielerischen Zugang zu Gestaltung mit Computern und Technik zu erfahren.
Was wir getan haben:
- Interessierte Mentoren zusammengebracht mit Erfahrung im Programmierung, Open Data, Webentwicklung, 3D-Drucken, Virtual Reality, usw. - die motiviert sind, Kindern beim Einstieg in die Digitale Gestaltung zu helfen.
- Einen Workshop geführt über die aktuelle Lernplattformen und -möglichkeiten, und der Zukunft der Informatikausbildung in der Schweiz. Dort Ideen für Beispielprojekte angeschaut und gesammelt, die wir gerne miteinander entwickeln würden in kunftige Aktivitäten, und Austausche gestartet mit anderen internationalen Young Rewired State-Zentren im Zusammenhang mit dem Festival of Codem.
- Mit ein paar Kindern die erste Schritte ins Programmieren mit Hilfe von Hopscotch, Scratch, Javascript für Kids und Hello Dart gemacht, z.B.: Aina (6), Anouk (4) und Familie haben Trip to Space kreiert. Noch eine Musteridee - ein Rundenbasiertes Adventurespiel - haben wir als Prototyp genommen und zusammen entwickelt: Punched Quest!
Wir überlegen ein regelmässiges Treffen in Bern für Junginteressierte als Austausch- und Lernplattform zu organisieren, denn bisher gibt es in der Schweiz nur wenige ähnliche Angebote: z.B das Coders Dojo Zürich und den CreaCode Club in Yverdon-les-Bains. Weniger regelmässig – aber speziell auf Mädchen und Frauen ausgerichtet – sind die weltweiten, häufig zweitägigen "Rails Girls"-Workshops, welche zum gemeinsamen Lernen und Entwickeln einladen und auch schon mehrmals in der Schweiz stattfanden. Und schliesslich wollen wir auch auf die hiesigen Wettbewerbe von bugnplay oder den nationalen Wettbewerb von "Schweizer Jugend forscht" samt Studienwoche erwähnen, da diese Mut machen, eigene Ideen zu verwirklichen.

You don't need a license to code!
The experience of young people of many ages and backgrounds showed this at the Festival of Code (see #FoC2015 on Twitter and report by TechCrunch), which continues until this Sunday. For the first Festival of Code Bern, people big and small came out to engage thoughtfully and playfully with computer assisted creativity.
Here is what we were up to this week:
- Bringing together mentors with experience in programming, Open Data, web development, 3D printing, Virtual Reality, etc. - who are motivated to help kids get started in digital design and development. We started exchanges with Swiss code clubs and international Young Rewired State Centres on the occasion of the Festival of Code.
- Ran a workshop with teachers, engineers, parents, to explore the latest learning platforms and technologies and discuss the future of Information Technology education in Switzerland, during which we gathered project ideas that we would like to develop in our next activities together.
- Helped a few kids take their first steps into programming, with help from Hopscotch, Scratch, Javascript for Kids (in German), and Hello Dart, for ex.: Aina (6), Anouk (4) and family created a Trip to Space. To kickstart one idea - a paper-turn-based adventure - we launched the prototype of Punched Quest!
We are thinking about organising a regular meet-up in Bern for youth interested in sharing knowledge and coding together. Until now there are only a few such opportunities in Switzerland, that we are hoping to collaborate with: for instance Coders Dojo Zürich and CreaCode Club in Yverdon-les-Bains. Less regular and aimed especially (but not exclusively) at girls and young women are the international two-day Rails Girls workshops, which have just arrived in Switzerland. And last but not least, we would like to promote bugnplay and "Swiss youth research", which bring youngesters across the country together for digital exploring every year.
